Revolution in Obama's Future?
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Monday morning, disparaged Washington Republicans for refusing to back a proposal to defund Obamacare.
“What I can tell you is that there are a lot of Republicans in
Washington who are scared, they’re scared of being beat up politically,”
Cruz said during an interview on Glenn Beck’s radio show.
Cruz
pointed out that Republicans were worried that Senate Majority Leader
Harry Reid, D-Nev., and President Obama would “scream at the top of
their lungs” about the “evil mean nasty Republicans” were trying to shut
down the federal government.
Cruz suggested that Republicans
pass a continuing resolution to fund government – but no funding for
Obamacare – in order to make the argument that Obama was the one who
wanted to shut down the government for Obamacare.
“If we stand
together, that’s how we win this fight,” Cruz said, indicating that he
only had 63 days for grassroots activists to convince their elected
representatives to support the effort.
“Listen, I can’t win
this fight,” Cruz said, “Mike Lee can’t win this fight. Marco Rubio
can’t win this fight. No politician in Washington can win this fight,
because if it’s just going to be arguments in the Senate cloakroom, the
votes are against us.”
Cruz called for Americans to rise up against the unpopular law and campaign in favor of the effort.
“The one principal is true,” Cruz added. “I think liberty is never safer when politicians are terrified.”
