Ted Cruz slam Obama over yet another empty promise

Fiery Texan and 2016 GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz has wasted no time pointing out recent inconsistencies in President Obama’s rhetoric.
During an interview on FOX News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” Wednesday, Baier elicited quite the response from Cruz when he brought up the President’s dismissal of the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of Conservative groups, among other scandals, as “phony.”
“Well, I think it is interesting he calls them phony scandals when at the time they broke, he professed to be concerned about them,” Cruz told Baier.
“When he discovered the IRS was wrongfully targeting his political enemies, and we now know that at least the tacit, if not explicit approval of his top political employees, he claimed he was shocked, [and] would get to the bottom of it,” he added. “And following the pattern of this administration, he gives one speech about it, and then quickly says let’s brush it under the carpet, nothing to see here.”
Considering President Obama’s condemnation of the IRS’s inappropriate targeting and a promise to “hold accountable those who have taken these outrageous actions” during a May 2013 press conference, Cruz is absolutely right.
“… it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, you should be equally outraged at even the prospect that the IRS might not be acting with the kind of complete neutrality that we expect,” the President said at the time.
Yet now, just two months later, Obama has abandoned that promise – shrugging off the scandals and redirecting American’s attention toward the middle class with an abrupt economic talking tour.
“It is the same pattern he’s followed with Benghazi, it is a pattern over and over again of wanting to avoid accountability, and I think it is unfortunate to see the executive abusing power and disregarding the law,” Cruz said.
