Had the Titanic hit the ice berg straight on without swerving the whole thing would have been a foot note in history and nobody would remember anything about the ship. Of course they tried to avoid disaster and brought it on since a head on would have been handled by the design and a glancing blow ripped it open. Much can be said for facing a problem head on instead of trying to weasel around them.
