Pass It On...

We were travelin back from the 'Great White North', pun intended, back to the Backwoods. We stopped to eat after drivin roughly 10hrs of probably 12.5 hr trip. Yea when I have a destination I trudge on. Anyway we were all gettin hungry, so very familiar with the exits and whats where we got off the highway got gas and visited the local Huddle House. Huddle House is very similar to a Waffle House with a lil more class. They have an awesome philly cheese steak omlet, mmmmmm. Anyways Mrs. O and Lil O and me walked in and found a spot to sit. We got Lil O situated in the highchair and was lookin at the menus . Lil O is what you would call very flirtatious and very aware of his surroundings for his age. We can go to walmart without him flirtin with the girls or snappin round to look at their ass. Thats my boy! Anyway there was an older gentleman seated next us enjoyin his coffee. Lil O was lookin around and Mrs. O and just a grinnin from ear to ear, then hide lean forward and I noticed the older man was smilin back at him when he looked over. Well we finally ordered and were talkin and the old man left and I told my son to wave bye and I can remember if he did but he smiled and watched the older gentleman walk towards the register then out the front door. While we waited Mrs. O went outside and changed Lil O since there wasn't a place in the bathrooms. Well the waitress came over and told me that the older gentleman paid for our breakfast. Now at times I can be proud and won't take nothin I didn't earn, my wife is the same way, thats just how we were raised. So Mrs. O and Lil O came back in and sat down. I told her to thank your son for our free breakfast. She was shocked to say the least. We ate and were gettin ready to leave, Mrs. O being pregnant was cravin ice so I went up to our waitress and asked for a cup of ice. I slipped her a bill and told her to keep half and use the other half however she sees fit.

On another occasion couple months ago Mrs O and me were havin our "date night" out on the town after droppin Lil O at the sitter. We went to a restaurant and ordered our food and was talkin to the waitress. We explained we were enjoyin a date night without Lil O and do some shoppin and enjoy a lil piece of quiet. We were gettin ready to leave and she brought our check back with my change and it had a note in it. We still have the note and money. It simply said this isn't much but I want you to have it for the future baby O.

After these two experiences my faith in humanity is still alive.

  1. It sounds like you must look dirt poor and almost begging for a handout. Smile

  2. It sounds to me like you were raised well and others see that and appreciate that and know how to show it in kindness.
