This 1967 award-winning photo entitled "Kiss of Life" shows two power
linemen, Randall Champion and J. D. Thompson, at the top of a utility
pole. They had been performing routine maintenance when Champion brushed
one of the high voltage lines at the very top. These are the lines that
can be heard “singing” with electricity. Over 4000 volts entered
Champion’s body and instantly stopped his heart (an electric chair uses about 2000 volts).
His safety harness prevented a fall, and Thompson, who had been
ascending below him, quickly reached him and performed mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation. He was unable to perform CPR given the circumstances, but
continued breathing into Champion’s lungs until he felt a slight pulse,
then unbuckled his harness and descended with him on his shoulder.
Thompson and another worker administered CPR on the ground, and
Champion was moderately revived by the time paramedics arrived. Champion
survived and lived until 2002, when he died of heart failure at the age
of 64. Thompson is still living. The photograph was published in
newspapers around the world. Share the pic if you think he's Amazing!
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Monday morning, disparaged Washington Republicans for refusing to back a proposal to defund Obamacare.
“What I can tell you is that there are a lot of Republicans in
Washington who are scared, they’re scared of being beat up politically,”
Cruz said during an interview on Glenn Beck’s radio show.
Cruz
pointed out that Republicans were worried that Senate Majority Leader
Harry Reid, D-Nev., and President Obama would “scream at the top of
their lungs” about the “evil mean nasty Republicans” were trying to shut
down the federal government.
Cruz suggested that Republicans
pass a continuing resolution to fund government – but no funding for
Obamacare – in order to make the argument that Obama was the one who
wanted to shut down the government for Obamacare.
“If we stand
together, that’s how we win this fight,” Cruz said, indicating that he
only had 63 days for grassroots activists to convince their elected
representatives to support the effort.
“Listen, I can’t win
this fight,” Cruz said, “Mike Lee can’t win this fight. Marco Rubio
can’t win this fight. No politician in Washington can win this fight,
because if it’s just going to be arguments in the Senate cloakroom, the
votes are against us.”
Cruz called for Americans to rise up against the unpopular law and campaign in favor of the effort.
“The one principal is true,” Cruz added. “I think liberty is never safer when politicians are terrified.”

First of all — did you know James Lipton was a pimp in France?
After
befriending a prostitute in Paris, he became a pimp, saying this about
that year in his life: “I did a roaring business, and I was able to live
for a year. The French mecs didn’t exploit women. They represented
them, like agents. And they took a cut. That’s how I lived. I was going
through my rites of passage, no question about it. It was a great year
of my life.”
And Sylvester Stallone’s first movie was in a porn called Party at Kitty and Stud’s.
Rocky is a porn star! The move came out in 1970, and it was his very first acting role.

You
probably remember KTVU’s royal eff up with reading obviously fake Asian
names for the pilots of the Asiana crash. Names like “Wi To Lo” and “Ho
Lee Fuk”.
It looks like a Korean news agency is having some
fun at KTVU’s expense. After the landing gear failure of the Southwest
flight at LGA they showed this graphic with American pilot names
“Captain Kent Parker Wright”, “Co-Captain Wyatt Wooden Workman”.
They even went as far as making up fake names for people to interview.
Flight instructor “Heywood U. Flye-Moore” and skeptical passenger “Macy
Lawyers”.
The
federal government plans to investigate an Arizona high school over a
"Redneck Day" celebration two months ago that was inspired by the
popular Duck Dynasty television show on A&E.
According to
the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, the
investigation will be "limited to whether a racially hostile environment
was created due to language and actions that were not protected by the First Amendment."
As Fox News notes, students at Queens Creek High School on May 1 were
encouraged to "dress like members of the reality show cast, but instead
it was seen as offensive when students arrived at the school in
stereotypical clothing."
Civil rights activists pointed to one
student who was pulled aside and asked to change his Confederate flag
attire as a sign that the day created a "racially hostile" environment.
The DOE's office of Civil Rights said, "the display of the Confederate
flag concerns rights protected by the First Amendment."
Rev.
Jarrett Maupin told the Associated Press that the Department of
Education will "determine the remedy, including moderating conversations
between school administrators and civil rights community leaders to
shape new policy and racism prevention measures."
Tom Lindsey,
the superintendent of the Queen Creek Unified School District, said the
day's events were meant to satirize Duck Dynasty, boost school spirit,
and insisted there was "no ill intent." He apologized to people who may
have been offended by the word "redneck." ~~
First off the 'Confederate flag' is not racist. If you've done your homework you know it has meanin that is far from being racist. Secondly if you get offended by someone calling you a Redneck than parently you aint one and are of the yuppie city folk variant. Third why in the fuck is the federal gov't gettin involved in this and not some of the other bullshit goin on in this country?
Its been a busy week for NASCAR, from its return to dirt in over 40 years. Then Busch and Winston cup qualifyin then Busch racin for their only 2nd time at Indianapolis then Winston racin for their 20th time. I know they're not called Busch and Winston or even the Craftsman Truck, but old habits are hard to beat.
Today qualifyin was intense and I'm glad Ryan Newman was able to edge jimmie johnson out for the pole and new track record at 47.992 seconds. Hope Jr can get his car hooked up better and at least get a top 5 finish if not possibly win it.
Ive seen some lawn tractor racin on TV and they get crazy. I got a buddy that does a lawn tractor derby at his local country fair in Ohio. My wife's town shut downtown for a few days for a street fair and they have a lawn tractor pull off. My local county fair was one of the firsts to have a combine derby and its boasts about 25-30 combines every year. And don't for get about the tractor pulls and semi truck pulls. We don't have any of that shit down here in Bama so every year our vacation we go up and the county fair is our vacation and the boys down here just can't wrap their heads round it...
One day, at the end of class, little Billy's teacher asked the class to go home, think of a story, then reach a conclusion as to the moral of that story.
The following day the teacher asked for the first volunteer to tell their story. Little Suzy raised her hand. "My dad owns a farm and every Sunday we loaded the chicken eggs on the truck and drove into town to sell them at the market. Well, one Sunday we hit a big bump and all the eggs flew out of the basket and onto the road."
The teacher asks Suzy what the moral of her story was.
Suzy replied, "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket."
Next was little Lucy. "Well my dad owns a farm too and every weekend we take the chicken eggs and put them in the incubator. Last weekend only 8 of the 12 eggs hatched."
The teacher once again asks what the moral of her story was.
Lucy replied, "Don't count your eggs before they're hatched."
Next was little Billy. "My uncle Ted fought in the Vietnam War, and his plane was shot down over enemy territory. He jumped out before it crashed with only a case of beer, a machine gun and a machete. On the way down he drank the case of beer. Unfortunately, he landed right in the middle of 100 Vietnamese soldiers."
"He shot 70 with his machine gun, but ran out of bullets, so he pulled out his machete and killed 20 more. The blade on his machete broke, so he killed the last ten with his bare hands."
The teacher looked in shock at Billy and asked if there is any possibility of a moral to his story.
Billy replied, "Don't fuck with uncle Ted when he's been drinking."

(The Blaze/AP) — A 14-year-old boy shot
and nearly killed an intruder who broke into his Phoenix home and
pulled a gun on him while he was watching his three younger siblings,
police said Saturday.
The teen and his siblings, ages 8, 10
and 12, were at home alone when a woman rang the doorbell on Friday. A
common enough occurrence, the boy still chose not to open the door
because he didn’t recognize the woman.
Quickly escalating into a far more
dangerous situation, the 14-year-old rushed his siblings upstairs after
he heard a loud bang on the door, grabbing his father’s handgun on the
way.
When he got to the top of the stairs, he saw an armed man break through the front door and point a gun at him.
Acting swiftly, he reportedly shot the
37-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital in extremely critical
condition to undergo surgery. However, he is expected to survive and
will be booked into jail within the week on counts of aggravated assault
and burglary, police Officer James Holmes said.
The suspect did not get a shot off, according to police. He also declined to release his name until he is booked into jail.
While
the woman who rang the doorbell got away, Holmes hailed the teen’s
actions, and his parents for teaching the children to never open the
door to strangers.
“The police and indeed our community
does not ever want to see a situation where a teenager of that age has
to take a weapon to protect his family … but this young man did exactly
what he should have done,” he said. “I’m not sure he gave full thought
about what he had to do. He just acted.”
He said the family, whose names were
not released, is declining to speak to reporters about the ordeal,
saying that they “are all pretty traumatized.”
“The dad was pretty much out of his
mind with distress, officers couldn’t even talk to him,” Holmes said.
“It’s going to take them a while to recover mentally.”
He said police don’t yet know what the
suspect’s intentions were and that will be one of the first questions
they ask him when he is well enough to talk.
“This was mid-block in a neighborhood,
at 4:30 in the afternoon in summertime and children are there,” he
said. “They just took a heck of a gamble for this particular house, and
we’ve got to try to figure out why.”
Holmes added that the family is lucky that the teen acted so swiftly and effectively.
“As ugly as this is, and as much as this family is going through, we don’t have injured children on our hands,” he said.
WHEN
APOLLO Mission Astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he
not only gave his famous "one small step for man, one giant leap for
mankind" statement but followed it by several remarks, usual com traffic
between him, the other astronauts and Mission Control. Just before he
re-entered the lander, however, he made the enigmatic remark "Good luck,
Mr. Gorsky."
Many people at NASA thought
it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However,
upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American
space programs. Over the years many people questioned Armstrong as to
what the "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky" statement meant, but Armstrong always
just smiled.
On July 5, 1995 (in Tampa Bay, FL) while answering
questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26 year old
question to Armstrong. This time he finally responded. Mr. Gorsky had
finally died and so Neil Armstrong felt he could answer the question.
When he was a kid, he was playing baseball with a friend in the
backyard. His friend hit a fly ball which landed in the front of his
neighbor's bedroom windows. His neighbors were Mr. & Mrs. Gorsky.
As he leaned down to pick up the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs.
Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky, "Oral sex! You want oral sex?! You'll get
oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!"
Some may or may not know what this is referrin to. The song is called Wagon Wheel originally Bob Dylan wrote the music and some time later Old Crow Medicine Show a modern bluegrass band finished. Well then Darius Rucker heard it at his daughters music show and decided he needed to cover it. Well he did not do the song any justice and its been an argument ever since...
College Republicans refused entry to Obama’s speech, deemed a ‘security threat’
Who knew a group of College Republicans could be so scary.
Ten members of the College Republicans were denied entry to see
President Barack Obama’s speech at the University of Central Missouri in
Warrensburg, Mo., Wednesday, with security personnel telling the
students they posed a security threat, The College Fix reported.
Security working at the event told the students, who donned Tea Party
t-shirts and patriotic clothing, that they were refused entry not
because of “politics, but the President’s safety,” State Treasurer of
the College Republicans Courtney Scott told The College Fix.
But security didn’t just deny the students entry. The group was asked
to leave the vicinity and stay several hundred yards away from the
recreation center where President Obama gave his speech.
Scott and her fellow Republicans — who had tickets to the event —
were confused as to why they were subject to such extreme scrutiny when
the other 2,500 in attendance were not.
“It just didn’t make any sense,” Scott told The College Fix. “A lot of us traveled several hours to watch the speech. We were very disappointed not to be able to attend.”
The students spent the day protesting the president’s economic
policies at the campus’ designated “public speech area,” holding signs
calling for capitalism and a lower unemployment rate for Millennials, and
talking with passersby.
But when it came time to head into the recreation center — far from
the “public speech area” — the students shed their signs and waited in
line for several hours with fellow attendees. According to The College Fix, the
day’s heat coupled with the President’s late arrival caused several
students to pass out from heat exhaustion and others to leave early.
Event organizers even began granting entry to students without tickets
in an effort to fill seats.
President Obama’s appearance at the University of Central Missouri was the second in a series of economic speeches focused on the middle class he
gave this week. The White House announced Obama’s “pivot” back to the
economy after the first six months of his second term has been plagued
with a bevy of scandals, sluggish economy and high unemployment rates. President Obama also made stops at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., and Jacksonville, Fla.
Ted Cruz slam Obama over yet another empty promise
Fiery
Texan and 2016 GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz has wasted no
time pointing out recent inconsistencies in President Obama’s rhetoric.
During an interview on FOX News’ “Special Report with Bret
Baier” Wednesday, Baier elicited quite the response from Cruz when he
brought up the President’s dismissal of the Internal Revenue Service’s
targeting of Conservative groups, among other scandals, as “phony.”
“Well, I think it is interesting he calls them phony scandals when at
the time they broke, he professed to be concerned about them,” Cruz
told Baier.
“When he discovered the IRS was wrongfully targeting his political
enemies, and we now know that at least the tacit, if not explicit
approval of his top political employees, he claimed he was shocked,
[and] would get to the bottom of it,” he added. “And following the
pattern of this administration, he gives one speech about it, and then
quickly says let’s brush it under the carpet, nothing to see here.”
Considering President Obama’s condemnation of the IRS’s inappropriate
targeting and a promise to “hold accountable those who have taken these
outrageous actions” during a May 2013 press conference, Cruz is
absolutely right.
“… it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, you should
be equally outraged at even the prospect that the IRS might not be
acting with the kind of complete neutrality that we expect,” the President said at the time.
Yet now, just two months later, Obama has abandoned that promise –
shrugging off the scandals and redirecting American’s attention toward
the middle class with an abrupt economic talking tour.
“It is the same pattern he’s followed with Benghazi, it is a pattern
over and over again of wanting to avoid accountability, and I think it
is unfortunate to see the executive abusing power and disregarding the
law,” Cruz said.
